The Piano Teacher

This is a dark movie about love, loneliness and masochism.
Erika Kohut is a Piano teacher and a stern, cold woman who secretly finds solace in visiting peep shows and acting out her sexual desires.
Erika, still living with her hysterically possessive mother, gives everything for her work and somehow despite being a teacher tries to diminish her students talent rather than nurture it.
When her student Walter Klemmer, a young, handsome vivacious man shares his true feelings with Erika she divulges to him her deepest desires.

The Piano Teacher is based on a novel by writer Elfride Jelinek and caused a great stir at the Cannes film festival where it swept up 3 prestigious awards. Many were outraged by it's content and the rest fell in love with its quiet, morose plot.

I found this film very interesting from start to finish and it certainly leaves you with a lot to think about. It does contain a lot of sexual content. Incredible acting and masterful direction 8/10
